CDC Driving - Part 2
Hello guys! After you guys have started attending all the practical driving lessons, around half way through, the instructor will evaluate you according your progress. He/she will then write down how many more lessons you will need before you can take your practical driving test. Therefore, based on the number of lessons, you can plan accordingly and start to enquire about the practical test date availability.
The availability of the test date will normally be a month later. For example, if I were to enquire on the 2nd of January 2017, the test date may be open around end of February/ start of March or so (I mean roughly). You can enquire directly at Counter 6 (if I'm not wrong) about the test date. You do not have to get a queue number from the Customer Service Centre, just queue directly at Counter 6 to enquire will do. You can also call up the Customer Service Centre to enquire about the test date.
One thing to note is that you have to be present to book the test date for your practical test (for the 1st round). However, if you did not manage to pass your practical test for the 1st time *touch wood*, you can then book the next practical test online.
On the test date itself:
1.) Warm up:
Proceed over to the Admin Service Centre (for private learners), there are arrows to guide you (for students taking practical driving test). They will ask for your IC and your blue booket and ask you to take a seat first. After that, they will allocate an instructor and a car (have to remember the car number- this will be the car that you will be using for your test).
The instructor will show you where the car is and ask you to start up the car, you guys will then proceed into the circuit for warm up and maybe one round outside the school and that's it. The instructor will then change over and park the car (remember where he park, because later you will have to lead the tester to the car). He will then guide you into the building and pass you your IC and some paper, and ask you to slot it inside a box near the traffic police department at level 2 (For Ubi CDC). Following which, he will then lead you to the waiting room (for people taking practical test only- at level 1) and ask you to wait there, for your test. The tester will come into the room and call your name. This is where it starts!!!
2.) During the test:
Do everything correctly and try your best!! At the end of the test, you will have to park the car at the front lobby (do kerb side stopping, and put to park, apply handbrake and just take your bag and leave the car as it is). Do not have to off the engine and take out the car keys or anything. There will be an instructor who will come and pick up the car. Once you take your bag, follow the tester. He will go up to level 2, into a room and ask you to sit down. This is where he/she tells you your test result.
3.) After the test:
If you pass your test, you have take your test result and have to watch a video (there are several timings for the video- you can pick any timing, but you have to watch the video). If there are sufficient time, you can then do your driving licence at the traffic police department (level 2). You have to present your test result, your IC, your photo ID (passport size) and you have to pay $50 SGD for the driving licence (they do not accept cash). They will not hand you your licence immediately, instead, they will mail it to you personally.
Afterwards, you have to go back to the room where you go for your warm up, and show the instructor your test result. He will then pass you your blue booklet (where he stamped graduated) and you can then proceed to watch your video. The video is just in the same area, just across the room that you're in. After you watched the video, applied for the driving licence and took back your blue booklet, you're officially done with CDC (: You can now drive! (:
